PATRICK, SC (WBTW) – The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office says they made one arrest and expect more in connection with the unlawful and excessive purchase of pseudophederine, an ingredient found in over the counter medicines used to make meth. 

Thirty-one-year old William Wesley Bryant of Patrick was taken into custody Tuesday for purchasing or trying to purchase more than 9 grams of pseudophederine between January 2 and January 25. Investigators also allege Bryant used a SC ID that was not his for the transactions at pharmacies in Darlington County. 

Bryant has been charged with the purchase of more than nine grams of pseudoephedrine in 30 days, 1st offense, a felony punishable by up to five years imprisonment, false statements on required log, 1st offense, a misdemeanor, and use of another’s license or identification card, a misdemeanor.  

According to the press release from the sheriff’s office, the DEU was also involved in the investigation and the arrest was made with help from tools used to monitor who is buying pseudophederine and ephedrine like the National Precursor Log Exchange, NPLEx.
