Man arrested in connection with robbery at N. Ocean Blvd. business

A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a business on N. Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.

Devon Lynn Newsome, 19, was arrested and charged with two counts of armed robbery in the case, according to Myrtle Beach booking records.

Officers responded to the Court Capri, located at 2610 N. Ocean Blvd., around 10:45 p.m. on October 31 for a robbery call, according to an incident report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department. Upon arriving, officers met with a victim, who stated an unknown suspect had come in asking for change. The victim told police the suspect then said that he didn’t want to hurt anybody, and that he was on the streets and needed money.

The victim reported the suspect held his hand out, but kept his other hand inside his jacket, which she believed might have had a weapon in it, the report said. The victim reportedly opened the register and gave the suspect about $180. The suspect then reportedly said that was enough and left the business.
