Man arrested in connection with July attempted murder in Florence

A man has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder than happened in Florence in July. 

On Wednesday, officers from the Florence Police Department transported Zacchaeus Johnminque Rhayquan Ross to the Florence County Detention Center from Jacksonville, Florida, a press release from the department says. Ross had been held in Jacksonville on outstanding warrants issued by the FPD. 

Ross now faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging a firearm in the city limits, according to the release.

These charges stem from an incident on July 20, when Ross reportedly had a physical altercation with another person in a vehicle while traveling to Ross’ home in the 1400 block of Aaron Circle, the report says. One at his residence, Ross allegedly retrieved a pistol and shot at the victim while the victim was driving away. The victim reportedly sustained minor injuries from the initial altercation.
