COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Richland County Sheriff’s Office arrested the person who they say is responsible for setting a puppy on fire in a church parking lot.
Hykeem Dontavious Jabar Golson, 21, is charged with felony ill treatment of animals. Golson was arrested at his home at the Wellsprings Apartments on Harbison Boulevard, according to NBC affiliate WIS. Investigators were able to identify Golson after questioning witnesses and friends.
On Saturday, November 12 at around 7 p.m., a witness called 911 after seeing a man burn the 10-week-old pit bull puppy in a parking lot near Irmo.
Officials say the puppy was rushed to an emergency veterinarian, but died from its injuries.
