SCOTLAND COUNTY, NC (WBTW) – The Criminal Investigation Division of the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office charged a man Friday after a home invasion in May.
28 year-old James Ray Goins is charged with one count of murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
According to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office Goins was a part of a home invasion that occurred in the Laurel Hill area in May.
During the home invasion officers say Goins shot and killed Kimberly Kelly.
Deputies say a second victim living at the residence was shot also but survived.
Goins was placed in the Scotland County Detention Center with no bond due to the nature of the charges.
