MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) – The Georgetown County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man they believe used a knife during a robbery Tuesday night.
William Charles Blackburn, 55, is charged with armed robbery and kidnapping.
Deputies responded to the crime report on Highway 17 Business in Murrells Inlet around midnight Tuesday night.
According the Sheriff’s Office, a woman reported that she was giving Blackburn a ride when he put a pocket knife to her cheek and demanded her pocketbook. After a brief struggle, the woman was able to get out of her vehicle, and Blackburn ran away according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies later found Blackburn in Pawleys Island and arrested him. Deputies took Blackburn to the Georgetown Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
