LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – A press conference was held Friday morning after law enforcement officers hit the streets in search of some of the area’s most dangerous offenders called “Operation Zero Hour.”
“They didn’t just take a piece of paper and go out and look this week and look for, for people with warrants. They did a lot of work up on these individuals,” said Scott Parker, U.S. Marshal of the Eastern District of North Carolina.
It was a three day initiative where more than 120 people were arrested in Robeson County.
“We have a great county. We have certain communities that we have trouble with and that’s the communities we have been targeting for many years,” Sheriff Kenneth Sealey mentioned.
All in all it resulted in 170 warrants served, 123 arrests and 22 firearms being seized, including rifles, handguns and shotguns.
It also included 37 high risk searches as part of the initiative, coupled with a confirmed 18 gang members.
“We pray that this will let our citizens and visitors of Lumberton and Robeson County know that their safety is our top priority,” said Lumberton Police Chief Michael Mc Neill.
According to Sealey, the department is already working a similar operation but on a smaller scale.
