Lumberton toddler accidentally shoots, kills self inside family’s store

LUMBERTON (WBTW) — A toddler is dead after an accidental shooting inside a store his father owned, according to Lumberton Police.

It happened Sunday morning just before 11:00 a.m. at 2205 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. Police found a three-and-a-half-year-old boy who had shot himself with the handgun his father kept hidden behind the counter of the store.  The father called police immediately.

Police submitted the case to the Robeson County District Attorney’s Office for review.
