Lumberton Gospel group perform Holiday song with message for children

Lumberton, NC (WBTW) – During the holiday season many children receive gifts and toys. The Tones of Joy Gospel group from Lumberton gave children the gift of song during a Gospel Concert at the Floyd Temple Church Sunday afternoon. Bishop Rogers, one of the members of the group wrote a special song for children during the holidays.

Rogers hopes to instill respect and Christ- like living in young children this holiday season.

“This song is a good gift for them. It gives them something to hold onto throughout their life,” Rogers explains.

Inspired by the Bible, Rogers created a catchy song to help children remember the Bible scripture.

Ephesians 6:2, “Honor thy Father and Mother, which is the 1st commandment with a promise.”

Rogers said, “If they receive this song and get it into their heart because it is directly from the bible. They will be an even better person than I am.”

Two brothers say they enjoyed the songs message.

Tazius Mcnatt, a 16 year old member of Floyd Temple Church summarized the song, “You have to be thankful for everything you have. Love your parents and be respectful.”

Daron Mcnatt, an 8 year old member of Floyd Temple Church said, “The most important thing is to honor your parents and respect them.”

The song also includes a message about the value of education and obeying the law.

Rogers explains, “Honor and respect will carry you further than any money will carry you.”

After the song, Rogers shook each child’s hand to send them off with the message of respect this holiday season and into the New Year.

“The bible tells us. It is a time and a season for everything under the sun. I believe it is the time and the season for this song,” Rogers adds.

The Tones of Joy Gospel Band hopes to perform the song at other churches—for more information email taylor.clarence1961@gmail.com.
