A Darlington man who doesn’t usually buy lottery tickets, did last week and won $100,000.

“I thought I might luck up,” he said.

And he did, on a $5 Diamonds and Pearls scratch-off at the Oakland Grocery on Oakland Ave. in Florence.

His girlfriend was with him in the store when he scratched the ticket.

“I’ll buy you something nice,” he promised her.

What will that be?

“A house,” she responded.

Two top prizes of $100,000 remain in the Diamonds and Pearls game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 540,000. For selling the claimed ticket, Oakland Grocery in Florence received a commission of $1,000.
