LONGS, SC (WBTW) – A Loris man is in jail for an attempted home break-in Tuesday morning near Longs. Horry County Police detectives responded to a call just after 9 a.m. Tuesday after a woman called 911 to say she shot a man trying to get into her house.
According to Captain Greg Rogers with Horry County Fire Rescue, emergency crews were called to a home at the 9000 block of Highway 905, just outside Longs, around 9:10 a.m.
Rescue crews found a wounded person and administered care, Rogers said.
A police report from the incident identifies the wounded man, and would-be intruder as Daniel Frinks, 57, of Loris. Frinks is charged with attempting to enter a house with intent to steal.
The homeowner’s father told News13 that Frinks tried to break-in around 4:30 a.m. and then left. When Frinks returned to the home hours later, the female homeowner shot the man.
Frinks was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released into police custody.
