CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson announced Wednesday a Loris man was sentenced to 22 years in prison following his guilty plea for a deadly shooting in 2015.
A press release from the solicitors office says Gary Batton, 37, of Loris pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter before Circuit Court Judge Larry Hyman, who sentenced him to 22 years.
Batton will not be eligible for parole on the charge, the release says.
A press release from Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick confirmed Alvin Johnson, 35, was shot and killed at a home off Broad Street around 11:30 p.m. Aug. 23, 2015. The coroner’s report shows Johnson was shot three times. A gunshot wound to the chest was the fatal shot, Hendrick said.
Batton was arrested the same day and charged with murder.
