HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW)- The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Horry County that happened on Saturday night.

Troopers say the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on US 701 at Waccamaw Drive.

According to the Highway Patrol, the driver of a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck tried to pass a car while traveling south on Highway 701. As a result, the driver hit an oncoming Cadillac SUV that was traveling north.

Troopers say the driver of the Chevrolet died on the scene.

Troopers say the two people in the SUV including a pregnant woman were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medial Center for their injuries.

Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden identifies the victim as 56-year-old Joseph Faircloth of Loris.

The crash remains under investigation.
