A Loris man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing shots into a vehicle with a child inside. 

According to an incident report from the Horry County Police Department, officers responded to Bennett Loop Rd. in Loris around 3 p.m. on October 23 in reference to a malicious damage complaint.

Upon arriving, an officer met with the victim, a 20-year-old woman from the Green Sea area, who stated that her boyfriend and child’s father was arguing with her, the report says. The woman said as she was trying to leave, the suspect fired two rounds at her car, hitting her front left tire. The woman reportedly further stated that her baby was in the vehicle during the time the shots were fired. 

The suspect is identified in the report as 21-year-old Hakeem Tequan Bennett, of Airport Road in Loris. 

According to J. Reuben Long Detention Center booking records, Bennett was booked around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. He is charged with two counts of attempted murder and bail is set at $25,000.
