LONGS, SC (WBTW) – A Longs man who was wanted for attempted murder after police say he arrived intoxicated at a home in Longs where several people were gathered and shot a man, has turned himself in to police.
Lt. Raul Denis says officers were dispatched to a home on Freemont Road around 10 p.m. Wednesday night where they discovered a man had been shot and was lying on the ground. The 38-year-old victim was treated at a local hospital and at last check his condition was stable, adds Lt. Denis.
Witnesses at the house were able to name and describe the shooter to officers as he was an acquaintance to the victim and others at the home. Police say Christopher Pierre Collier, 27, of Longs, was wanted in connection with the shooting.
According to Lt. Denis, Collier is in police custody after surrendering Thursday afternoon.
An incident report from Horry County Police states Collier showed up at the home “drunk and disruptive,” and was speaking badly to a woman at the home. The victim, who has not been identified by police, asked Collier to walk outside and leave the woman alone.
Witnesses explained to police that when Collier and the victim went outside, the victim tossed his phone down and Collier lifted his shirt to reveal a gun in his waistband and told the victim he was just going to shoot him, not fight him. The victim put his hands in the air and told Collier he did not have a gun. That’s when, according to the report, Collier removed the firearm from his pants and shot the victim.
Arrest warrants for Collier included charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Official charges against Collier have not yet been released.
