FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A Longs man has been sentenced to 46 months for being a felon in possession of multiple firearms.
Glendell Long, also known as Okera Uzoma, 46, was sentenced to federal prison after pleading guilty to having an hybrid assault rifle and a sawed-off .22, U.S. Attorney Sherri Lydon announced on Tuesday.
Long lived at and owned an unlicensed club in Longs, according to Lydon. When police responded to a shooting incident there in March, they found several surveillance cameras around the property.
After receiving consent to view the videos, officials saw Long carrying an American Tactical Imports Omni Hybrid Assault Rifle into the residence. The assault rifle was later found hidden in the wall of Long’s residence.
Law enforcement also observed Long remove what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and located a .22 caliber rifle with a sawed-off barrel in the office area of the liquor house.
Federal law prohibits Long from possessing a firearm, and this is not the first time Long has been convicted of unlawfully possessing a gun. After being convicted in state court of assault and battery with intent to kill in 1992, Long was federally prosecuted and convicted in 2003 for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Long was later convicted in 2010 in state court for the unlawful carrying of a pistol.
Long’s sentence will be followed by three years of court-ordered supervision. There is no parole in the federal system.
