MARION, SC (WBTW) – Two schools within the Marion County School District were placed on lockdown for a brief period Wednesday morning after school officials received word a student may have brought a gun onto a school bus.
Marion County School District Public Information Officer Deborah Wimberly confirms Palmetto Middle School and Mullins High School were placed on lockdown Wednesday after there were “indications” that a student brought a gun onto a school bus.
Wimberly says a thorough search was made and there was no gun found. The lockdown precautions were dismissed and schools continued to function as normal. Wimberly did not specify where the indications of a possible gun carried by a student stemmed from. Read more about Marion County School District lockdown procedures.
