Lockdown lifted from Hartsville school after nearby shooting

HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – The lockdown placed on a Hartsville school Monday morning has been lifted, according to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Robert Kilgo with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a shooting Monday morning in the area of Blanding Drive in Hartsville. One person was shot, confirms Lt. Kilgo, and that person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Southside Early Childhood Center, located at 1615 Blanding Drive in Hartsville, was placed on lockdown as a safety precaution, adds Lt. Kilgo. The lockdown was lifted within an hour.

No suspect description was released and the sheriff’s office has not commented on if anyone is in custody for the shooting.
