The Second Annual State Championship of Academics was held Thursday night at Winthrop University.

Two middle and two high schools represented the Pee Dee.  Each of them won their division at the regional Tournament held at FMU this winter.

The teams were:  Division II – Lake View High and Johnsonville Middle.  Also participating were Division I – Wilson High and Williams Middle.

There were 16 teams from the Midlands, Western Piedmont, Olde English area, and the Pee Dee.

Lake View High won its match in high fashion by winning in a tie breaker (the first team to answer a question correctly) and they got the first question right.

Wilson High lost a close match to Fort Mill High in the finals.

Williams Middle lost a close match to Indian Land Middle in the finals.

And Johnsonville Middle lost a close match in the semi-finals to Fort Mill.
