GREER, S.C. – The family of a Townville boy, who was killed after a shooting outside of his elementary school, is asking everyone to remember their son by dressing as his favorite superheroes. Upstate businesses are stepping up to show the family and Townville that they’re not alone.
Jacob Hall’s parents say that not only did he love superheroes, but they believe he was one himself.
“He told me and his daddy one day, you know what I got a secret. I said whats that baby? He said I got super powers. He said I am cat boy and at night when mommy and daddy are sleeping, I go out and save the town and I believe that’s what he’s doing right now,” Renae Hall, Jacob’s mother, said after he died Saturday.
Since then, people across the Upstate have been planning to wear their favorite super hero costumes and clothes this week as his family prepares to lay him to rest.
A local business, Palmetto Twist, decided they wanted to help, by taking rush orders of super hero shirts at all 6 of their locations.
They announced late Sunday night that they would be taking Superman, Batman, Captain America and Flash shirt orders until noon Tuesday, to get everyone ready for Jacob’s funeral Wednesday.
Then, a portion of the proceeds made will go to Townville. They say their working with the school district to find out where the money is needed.
The shirts can be personalized and range in price from 20 to 28 dollars. Orders will be taken until noon Tuesday. The stores closed at 6 p.m. but orders can be placed by text message.
