Junior ROTC students from across Horry County showed off their hard work at the third annual Horry County JRTOC Drill Meet.

All nine Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps were invited to the drill meet, including those from Conway, Aynor, Carolina Forest, and North Myrtle Beach High Schools. They competed in the parking lot of Pelicans Stadium on Saturday. Students executed Color Guard, and Armed and Unarmed Squad and Platoon Drills.

Members of the Myrtle Beach U.S. Amry Recruiting Office and the S.C. National Guard judged the competition. Afterward, students and their families enjoyed a free lunch at the ballpark, hosted by the Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina

“It gets all the students together to interact with students from other schools. And it’s a bonding opportunity for us, and the instructors. It’s at the end of the school year so it’s really a fun activity for everyone,” said Lieutenant Colonel James Davis, Director of JROTC Instruction.

North Myrtle Beach High School’s JROTC team won the top overall trophy of the competition.
