MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Some local eleven and twelve-year-old boys get ready to play in the World Series.
The Myrtle Beach Dixie Youth Majors recently beat Maple Park for the state title.
Tuesday, the boys were recognized by Myrtle Beach City Council.
The team will now go to Laurel, Mississippi for the Wold Series.
The boys say they followed the Coastal Carolina University on its journey to the College World Series, and that motivated them to win throughout their season.
“It’s a big, you know, thing for us to try and repeat exactly what they’ve done and mimic them going to the World Series and winning it for this area, for Myrtle Beach,” said coach Mike Foltz.
The Delmae Small Fry team from Florence will also represent our area in the Dixie Youth World Series in Mississippi.
The Delmae boys and coaches say they were also inspired by Coastal Carolina’s run in the College World Series.
