MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Churches across South Carolina observed a day of prayer today.
Governor Haley asked people to pray as the state recovers from Hurricane Matthew and as it deals with the Roof and Slager trials.
“The one constant was that when things we didn’t understand happen, the faith was there, people stood hand in hand and loved each other,” Governor Nikki Haley said.
Local churches including the First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach also took part in the state day of prayer and opened its doors for anyone who wanted to stop by and pray.
“Thinking through all that we have gone through as a nation as a state that if we pray for things like justice and unity, reconciliation and healing that we will probably be more likely to live those kinds of things out no matter what we face together,” Rev. Jonathan Harris with First United Methodist Church said.
