HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office hosted the “Battle of Badges” softball tournament at Byerly Park in Hartsville Saturday afternoon.
Participating agencies included the fire district, Darlington County EMS, Hartsville City Fire Department and Darlington City Fire Department.
Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd says though today was the first time hosting the tournament, it was an overall success.
“Well the guys work together all the time anyway you know, so there might be a little rivalry between the agencies but everybody in our county works together really good so it wasn’t a surprise they could come together and pull this thing off,” said Byrd.
Proceeds from the “Battle of Badges” will go towards the Darlington Relay for Life.
The goal Saturday was to raise $1,000 for Darlington Relay for Life.
