A Little River man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a North Carolina man found dead in a car.

Horry County police arrested and charged Kevin Ronette Stanley, 37, of Little River in connection with the death of Brian Nunn, 42, of Shallotte, according to a press release from the Horry County Police Department. Around 4:22 p.m. on December 22, Nunn was found dead in the passenger seat of a car near James Bellamy Circle and Highway 111 in the Little River area.

“Our investigation thus far shows that Stanley shot Nunn multiple times with a handgun,” states the release.

Stanley’s charges include:

  • Murder
  • Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
  • Obstructing justice

“HCPD would like to thank the community members who came forward with information related to this case,” adds the release. “We truly appreciate your cooperation and support.”

Arrest warrants say that on December 22, 2018 Stanley “did cause the death of the victim with malice aforethought by shooting him multiple times with a handgun.”

“During a post Miranda confession, the defendant did admit to being on the scene at the time of victim’s death,” the warrants state. “During the course of the investigation, evidence was uncovered that suggested only one person was on scene at the time of the victim’s death.”

The warrants also allege that Stanley inquired about reward money offered for the death of the victim and that he allegedly provided “false statements that altered” the course of the investigation.
