An Horry County business owner was arrested for unpaid withholding taxes.

A press release from the South Carolina Department of Revenue says Jamee Blanton, the operator of Blanton Materials Inc. in Little River, was arrested by SCDOR agents on Monday. He is charged with five counts of failing to pay withholding tax.

According to the release, Blanton was responsible for filing withholding tax returns and making withholding tax payments for the business. For the 2012 to 2016 tax years, Blanton reportedly failed to pay an estimated $110,860 in taxes withheld from the paychecks of business employees. Blanton is currently in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending a bond hearing. If convicted, Blanton faces a fine of up to $10,000 and/or up to five years in prison for each counts.
