A company from New York will be expanding into the Myrtle Beach area and hiring about 30 new employees by this summer.

The company, called Star Life Safety, plans to be operating by June 1, said John Cook, one of the two partners of the company.

Star Life Safety, which handles hospital and other facility life-safety systems, plans to move into a 7,600 square foot building after renovating it, Cook told News13.

The office will be near Myrtle Beach International Airport and will employ a variety of new jobs, nearly all which will be local.

The jobs, which will pay up to $60,000 yearly, will include all kinds of positions, such as office workers and engineers, Cook said.

Currently, Star Healthcare Solutions, describes itself as a “leading provider of automated facility monitoring, facility compliance and time synchronization technologies.”

Cook said that the company will likely begin job interviews in April. Cook, who has relatives in Southport, NC,  said that he first considered moving to the area in September and finalized the deal by the end of 2014.

The company was originally focused on fire protection, beginning in 1988 on Long Island as Star Fire Protection, Cook said.

When Cook joined the company nearly 5 years ago, Star Healthcare was formed, with the new company being called Star Life Safety.

Currently, the firm’s website is being built, but soon, it will advertise new jobs, Cook said.

According to its website, the Star Healthcare company currently specializes in
