SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Law enforcement and community members met with a new partner to combat the heroin epidemic on Monday.

Soba College Recovery hosted a “Taking Back Our Community” meeting at Surfside Civic Center.

The treatment facility has centers in several states, including California, Texas, and New Jersey.

Soba is now working with law enforcement to help fight addiction in Myrtle Beach. It invited various community members, including law enforcement and addiction specialists, to discuss how to tackle the heroin epidemic.

Soba’s CEO Greg Hanley said he wants to start with heroin addicts who have been admitted to hospitals, but have no place to go afterward. He also said he would ultimately like to establish a treatment center in Myrtle Beach as well.
