LAURINBURG, NC (WBTW) – On Wednesday,  officers with the Laurinburg Police Department responded to Piggly Wiggly in reference to an armed robbery.

Store employees told police that a man came into Piggly Wiggly, pulled out a gun, demanded the cash register till and ran out of the store.

Officers were advised that the suspect fled in a black car towards US 74 Business. Officers caught up with the vehicle and identified the suspect as Malcolm Tovias McMillian.

McMillian was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony possession of stolen goods, assault by pointing a gun, going armed to the terror of people, felony possession of stolen motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen firearm, speeding to elude arrest, driving while license revoked, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resist, delay and obstruction.

McMillian was taken to the Scotland County Detention Center where he was held under a $123,000.00 secured bond.
