LATTA, SC (WBTW) – Latta Town Council will vote on the termination of Police Chief Crystal Moore Thursday night in a special meeting.

Moore’s lawyer claims she is still legally the police chief as council did not vote on the termination in an open meeting. The lawyer for the Town of Latta says a vote isn’t needed to fire Moore. That the town administrator can make that call on his own.

Tonight the Town of Latta released this comment in regards to the planned vote:

“The town council stands by the handling of the termination of Crystal Moore. However, to bring finality to this situation, we will consider a resolution to ratify the decision made by the town administrator to terminate Crystal Moore.”

Moore had just returned to the police chief position following a five day suspension at the end of August when she was terminated last Thursday in an executive session of the town council.

Thursday’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
