LATTA, S.C. (WBTW) – Latta Police are warning residents after a spike in car break-ins over the past two weeks.
Police say there have been six reports of cars being broken into. Things stolen include firearms and jewelry. Some people had only change taken from their cars, but others had hundreds of dollars taken. Almost all of the break-ins happened because cars were left unlocked.
Here are a few tips from Police Chief Crystal Moore on how to make sure you’re not a victim:
- Make sure your car is locked
- Remove valuables from your car
- Call in suspicious activity or groups of people in your neighborhood
