Latta High School became one of the rare teams to claim state titles in both baseball and softball in the same year Friday.

The Vikings baseball team rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the fifth inning to beat Lewisville 6-4 and claim the Class A title. Latta scored five runs in the fifth. The Vikings lost Game 1 of the series, but battled back to win the next two. It was Latta’s third consecutive trip to state finals. They lost in the title series the previous two years.

In softball, Latta cruised past Dixie 16-6 for the Class A title. The Hornets were the defending state champions, and were making their third consecutive appearance in the finals.

Aynor softball claimed the Class 2A state title Friday with an 8-7 win over Andrew Jackson. The Blue Jackets trailed 4-0 early before rallying for the win.
