Several crews contain large woods fire, U.S. 301 shut down for hours

MARION, SC (WBTW) – Several fire departments, the state Forestry Commission, Duke Energy and other crews worked to contain a large woods fire that shut down U.S. 301 for hours.

The City of Marion Fire Department said U.S. 301 was closed from U.S. 76 to SC 38 for hours on Monday afternoon. “We are currently on the scene of a large woods fire near Sellers with several other departments,” the fire department posted just after 1 p.m.

Crews from multiple counties responded to contain the fire. They include:
Brush 20, Engine 20, Engine 21 and Tanker 20 with Marion FD.

“Thanks for responding to the large fire,” officials with Marion Rural Fire Department posted.

The scene was left with the South Carolina Forestry Commission No injuries were reported and no homes nor businesses were evacuated.
