LAMAR, SC (WBTW) – More than 30,000 people were in attendance for the Lamar Egg Scramble Saturday afternoon, according to organizers.

The festival is the biggest event held in Lamar, organizers say.

Activities includes a carnival, live music, a kids zone and more than forty vendors from different states

Last year organizers say there was a little more than 20,000 people who attended but this year that number grew even more.

Event organizers say since Lamar consists of a small population the event serves as a reminder that the town is still alive.

“This is one of the first festivals I can remember starting in Darlington County, like I said stretching back almost 30 years, so this is just familiar to people so they continue to come back year to year,” said Angele White-Bradley, Lamar Councilwoman and committee member.

The jamboree will end Saturday night with a fireworks show and music performances.
