MANNING, S.C. (AP) – One man is dead and another is missing after their boat capsized on Lake Marion.
Captain Robert McCullough of the Department of Natural Resources tells media outlets the DNR received the call about the incident Sunday afternoon. He says two men had been fishing on Lake Marion when something happened to the boat, causing it to sink. The men ended up in the water.
The Clarendon County Coroner’s Office says the two men were from Lake City.
Other boaters tried to throw a life jacket to one of the men, but he ultimately went under the water. Boaters were able to pull the other man into their boat and attempted CPR, but they weren’t able to revive him.
McCullough says the DNR is still searching the lake for the first man. Investigators are looking into what caused the boat to capsize.
