CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – On Thursday, a Horry County jury convicted a Kingstree man in the shooting death of a 23-year-old man outside a Myrtle Beach nightclub.
According to assistant solicitor Joshya D. Holford, Kevin Tyrone Bryant, 31, was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison. The trial began Monday and jurors deliberated for about two hours before reaching their verdict.
Saequan Lamar Vereen died after he was shot multiple times early Feb. 15, 2015, after he left Club Levelz on Ninth Avenue North in Myrtle Beach, the press release from Horry County Government said.
Bryant had waited for nearly 10 minutes between two vehicles parked next to the sidewalk outside the club for Vereen before he shot him, Holford said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a member of the Horry County Coroner’s Office.
Bryant ran from the scene after security guards shot at him during the incident. Myrtle Beach police were given a suspect description and stopped Bryant a block away from the club and took him into custody. Bryant suffered a gunshot wound to the arm by one of the security guards who returned gunfire during the incident.
The murder was captured on surveillance video at the club and the guards were able to identify Bryant after the shooting, Holford said.
