A Kingstree man says he’s bought his last lottery ticket, figuring he can’t beat a $100,000 win.
“That’s it for me,” he said.
He took one last chance at the Sav Way on N. Longstreet St. in Kingstree on a $5 Platinum Payout scratch-off. At midnight he remembered the ticket was out in his car and went to get it. Sitting at the kitchen table he scratched off a $100,000 win with a steak knife.
“I didn’t get any sleep after that,” he said.
At 2 a.m., he was ironing his clothes for the next day’s trip to Columbia to cash in his winnings.
“My wife and I sat up all night staring at the ceiling thinking of all the things we could do with the money,” he said.
Three top prizes of $100,000 remain in the Platinum Payout game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 480,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Sav Way in Kingstree received a commission of $1,000.
