CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A Myrtle Beach man was sentenced to 42 years in prison for stabbing a woman to death inside a laundromat in June 2016.
According to Horry County court records, Jon Paul Joseph Marston, 33, of Myrtle Beach, pled guilty to murder Thursday.
Horry County police were called to the Maytag Laundry Mat on Socastee Boulevard the morning of June 3, 2016, after the owner of the business found an employee dead inside the shop. The Horry County coroner’s office identified the victim as 65-year-old Wanda Wohnig, of Myrtle Beach. The coroner said Whonig died from stab wounds that caused mass hemorrhage.
Whonig’s minivan was missing from the business and police were able to capture Marston on surveillance video leaving in the vehicle. The van was later discovered by police.
Marston was sentenced to 42 years in prison and will receive credit for time served since his arrest in 2016.
