FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) – Dr. Christopher Kennedy has been named associate provost for academic affairs at Francis Marion University.
According to a statement from FMU, Kennedy fills a post left open after former associate provost Dr. Peter King was named the new Provost of the school in April. King’s predecessor, former Provost Dr. Richard Chapman, is retiring after serving at FMU for 16 years.
Before accepting the position in the Provost’s Office, Dr. Kennedy served as a professor of history. He spent most of his tenure sharing his knowledge of European history–from Medieval times to the twentieth century–with his students.
Kennedy holds a B.S. in History from Northern Michigan University and an M.A. in History from Providence College in Rhode Island. He earned his Ph.D. in History from University College Cork-National University of Ireland.
