MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – With prom season just around the corner, many high school students are looking forward to the night they dress up and have fun with friends. For some students, however, the thought of prom brings up anxiety and even shame – worry and embarrassment over not being able to afford the formal attire that is integral to high school proms.
Katie’s Project endeavors to eliminate that anxiety and shame for students who cannot afford prom or other formal events. The organization based in Myrtle Beach collects donated dresses and tuxedos and gives them to high school students who need them to enjoy prom and other milestone events in their lives. At this time of year Katie’s Project is working to identify students who could use the help of the organization. It is also the time of year when donations are especially needed and when high school girls get to pick out their dresses from the Katie’s Project shop.
