CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Governor John Kasich campaigned Friday in Conway at Horry Georgetown Technical College.

About 200 people came out to listen to Governor Kasich and about half of those were students.

The group was split between supporters and those still deciding how to cast their vote.

Kasich detailed his plan to create a three tiered tax bracket to stimulate the economy.

He says he continues his run because he wants a future for young American’s where they have the same opportunities his generation was given.

“We need to develop the skills all across this country for the jobs that exist today and the ones that are going to exist tomorrow. If we can give people skills, then we have better workforce. If we have a better work force we can create better jobs,” said Kasich.

Kasich focused on growing skills so young people can compete for the jobs of tomorrow and answered questions from the audience on national security.

“We do have to destroy ISIS and we have to destroy them not just alone, but these muslim arab countries have to help us just like they did in the first gulf war and the Europeans have to help us. But you’re not going to get it done just flying airplanes, you have to do it in the air on the ground and we’re going have to go as a team,” said Kasich.

Famous for his campaign hugs, Kasich did not disappoint, embracing a self-proclaimed Democrat during the rally.

Kasich finds himself near the bottom of the polls but says he is confident he can exceed expectations moving forward.
