Today’s weather didn’t stop a special Republican primary for the House District 63 seat in Florence County.
The unofficial results are in and Jay Jordan took the race with 54.7 percent of votes, which avoided a runoff election. Robby Hill trailed with just over 30 percent… and Elijah Jones with 14.6 percent of the votes.
SC House District 63 became empty when Republican Rep. Kris Crawford, an emergency room doctor, resigned from his seat in December — just a month after being elected to his fifth term.
“I’m just honored and humbled by the support that we’ve got throughout this campaign for all of these volunteers, it’s been a long race,” Jordan said Tuesday night.
“I think everyone who helped me, even my competitors, they worked really hard and I wish them the best and I can’t say anything bad about them at all and I’m just thankful for all of this all these people that came out and supported us and worked so hard for us,” he added.
Jordan is an attorney who studied at Charleston School of Law, College of Charleston and Florence Christian School.
With no Democratic opposition so far, it appears very likely that Jordan will coast through the general election on April 14.
Jordan says he’s listened to the people’s concerns… among those… roads and infrastructure, educational reform and job creation in Florence.
Tuesday’s votes will be validated officially by the Election Board on Thursday
