MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- More than 250 people came out to hear what former Florida Governor Jeb Bush had to say about a possible White House run. The Horry County Republican Party hosted a breakfast Wednesday morning and organizers say the goal was to help the community learn about potential presidential candidates.
People in Myrtle Beach were eager to meet the man many pollsters call a legitimate candidate for the next presidential election. But the former Florida Governor wasn’t ready to announce his plans just yet.
“I am seriously considering the possibility of this and in a few months time. I’m not sure exactly when I’ll make up my mind and if I do, I’ll come back here with a more pointed kind of advocacy asking for your support,” Bush said.
But he did have his mind made up about some things the next president needs to address.
“I don’t know about you but I’m tired of the partisan divide where everything, nothing happens because we’re just in this massive food fight. It’s time for conservatives to be able to lead to fix few big things so that we can have high economic growth where more people can achieve earned success,” Bush added.
Mr. Bush also shared his concerns about healthcare, a sentiment echoed by those in attendance.
“Well we are very concerned, my wife she has a condition that’s MS. We’re very concerned about the healthcare what’s going to be covered, what’s not and the question that was asked id Medicare is going to be eliminated or not, we are very concerned about the healthcare,” Rafael Ocasio said.
Concerns shared by local high school students who want to make sure their voices are heard.
“It’s my very first time voting, I turn 18 right before it so I’m very excited and blessed to be able to vote in the 2016 election,” Conway High School Junior Nia Grissett said.
Organizers with the Horry County Republican Party told News13 the goal is to get all potential presidential candidates to Myrtle Beach before next year’s primary in South Carolina.
