Dozens of people remembered Sgt. Terrence Carraway as a true man who served in the Darlington community.
A public vigil was held Sunday afternoon for Sgt. Carraway and the 6 law enforcement officers who were shot.
“I’m just overwhelmed by the amount of love and support,” said organizer Deanna Williamson.
Community members gathered hand in hand outside of Studio 316 on Pearl Street in Darlington.
“After the tragedy with the police officer and the 15-month old baby passing just last week, all from our community. I wanted to do something that would take them a little bit further than money would,” said Williamson.
The community prayed for the families who are going through a difficult time after the deadly shooting.
“We cover them in prayer, so we did that. We came together as a community to cover them,” said Williamson.
Sgt. Carraway lost his life in the line of duty back on October 3rd at the Vintage Place neighborhood. The support shown over the past few days gives an idea of how much Sgt. Carraway was loved by the community.
“It’s heartbreaking because you can never replace an actual person. It’s taking a toll on the community,” said Williamson.
Williamson plans to continue doing this for the Darlington community.
