FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Florence County Investigator Farrah Turner will be buried at the Florence Memorial Gardens, the same cemetery where Sergeant Terrence Carraway was buried three weeks ago.
Sgt. Carraway’s casket now lies inside of a 15-foot chamber inside of the masoleum at the cemetery. David Brown, the owner of the memorial gardens, says each family of the deceased can decide where to bury their loved one’s body or ashes or they can grant him permission to choose, which is what Investigator Turner’s family did. He tells News13 he decided to bury Investigator Turner in the section of the memorial gardens reserved for people who served our country and our community.
“This area out here is called the Veterans’ Garden of Freedom. We set up this garden for veterans and their families to be able to provide for those people that served our country and we could do no less for people who served our individual community. That’s why we chose this spot for Farrah Turner,” he said.
Brown says it’s an honor that both the Carraways and the Turners chose Florence Memorial Gardens. He says they’re working with the Henryhand Funeral Home to make sure the Turner family receives the best quality services and that they provide Investigator Turner with the respectful ceremony she deserves.
“We consider it an honor and a privilege to be able to honor the families. Officer Turner and Officer Carraway both gave up their lives serving our community,” Brown said. “The very least we could do was give back to them and help them with their burial and provide something nice and dignified and as comforting and as beautiful as we can for their family.”
Brown also says a specialized headstone is being made for Sgt. Carraway and one will be made for Investigator Turner.
“The headstone will have a sheriff’s badge or a deputy’s badge on it to personalize it for her because that was such a part of her life,” he said.
Investigator Turner will be buried on Sunday following her funeral which will be held at the Florence Center at noon.
