MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)-Hundreds of veterans and people in the Myrtle Beach community gathered for the military appreciation days parade on Saturday. Before the parade, the city of Myrtle Beach and Scents for Soldiers allowed some injured soldiers to meet with the grand marshal. It’s part of their four day vacation here.

Soldiers, thanked other soldiers for their service to our country and they got the chance to meet motivational speaker and this year’s grand marshal, Noah Galloway. All of the soldiers here visiting are injured and that’s something Noah knows about all too well.

“I was just trying to see where I fit now in life with my injuries.”

Noah Galloway lost his arm and leg fighting the war in Iraq. He lost a few limbs but he didn’t lose his hopeful spirit.

“I want people to see that we go through struggles but there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel”

Noah admitted to battling depression but now he uses his energy in a different way. He’s a motivational speaker, a model, and perhaps something he’s really proud of, placing third on the show Dancing with the Stars.

“I think the thing that really helped me was my dance partner Shauna Burgess and then also I look great shirtless and I can pick her up.”

From a decorated war veteran to a dancing star, Noah loves his new platform.

“My original intent was to be a better father that’s what every day I focus on, I want to make sure I am setting a good example for my children and if that message spreads beyond my immediate family, well then that is incredible.”

Noah spreads his message of sacrifice all the time. His main message this weekend though is to remember those who sacrificed everything.

“For me, being a combat veteran, I now have faces to that day, I have buddies of mine that I lost and it’s all about not forgetting that.”
