FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Florence City Council passed the first reading of an ordinance that would agree to lease a piece of property near Darlington and North Irby Streets to the Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority.
The city currently owns the property but the PDRTA would have to lease the land in order for the hub to be developed. But before that can happen, the city and PDRTA will need to come up with a lease agreement.
Florence City Councilmember Teresa Ervin says giving the downtown hub a face-lift is a win-win for everyone because the hub sits in a great location and it will get more people to the downtown area.
After city council passes a second reading on this agreement next month, the PDRTA will then begin the process of securing matching funds for the hub downtown.
