The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans to temporarily reopen all lanes at the location of ongoing bridge repair work along northbound Interstate 95 (mile marker 175) from 6 a.m. Thursday, April 2, until 7 p.m. Monday, April 6.
The temporary reopening will be in effect as heavier than normal traffic volumes are expected during Easter Weekend, officials say.
Motorists are reminded that the second phase of the repair project will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, April 6. Starting at this time, the left lane of northbound I-95 will be closed for approximately 23 days. The posted speed limit from mile marker 169 through the work area has been reduced to 45 mph.
A contractor began repairing holes to the northbound side bridge deck near the Florence-Dillon county line on March 11. Work is expected to be completed in late April.
The Over Size-Over Weight (OSOW) restriction remains in place during Easter Weekend and until project completion. Trucks are restricted to 11-foot-wide loads. All vehicles exceeding 11 feet in width shall use the posted detour route. The posted detour route will be I-95 North to Exit 170 (SC 327) to SC 327 to US 76/ US 301 to US 301 to SC 38. The detour route will end by OSOW trucks returning to I-95 North at Exit 181.
Motorists traveling along this northbound section of I-95 are advised to use caution in the work zone and to expect traffic congestion.
