Huntington Beach State Park will host a fall festival and haunted castle in October.

Mike Walker, an Interpretive Ranger at Huntington Beach State Park, says in a press release the Atalaya Fall Festival and Haunted Castle will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27.

There will be two separate haunted house attractions, according to Walker. One will be the “Little Scare” and the other the “Big Scare.”

Walker says the “Little Scare” is a “a not-too-scary maze of creepy rooms for the younger children” and the “Big Scare” is “a Haunted Castle for the brave at heart.”

The event will have carnival games, a photo booth, face painting, a balloon artist, and arts and crafts. There will also be “vintage spooky cartoons” shown outside, a “toast your own marshmallow” fire pit, “local ghost stories around the bonfire,” and food and drinks available for purchase.

Entrance to both haunted houses, children’s crafts, carnival games, and marshmallows are all included in the event admission, according to Walker. Admission is $10 for adults, seven dollars for children aged six to 15, and free for children aged five and under. Regular park admission will be waived during the festival.

“This event offers activities to appeal to every age group; however, please note that some of the special effects used in the haunted castle may be too intense for younger children,” Walker also says. The event will be held rain or shine.
