FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – On Monday, hundreds of people lined the streets in Florence to rally for a march to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

It began at Monumental Baptist Church in north Florence and ended about 1 1/2 miles later downtown at the Francis Marion Performing Arts Center, where a service was held.

“We just can’t forget about those who have fought for us to be where we are today.  Leading that fight in the day that we can remember is Dr. Martin Luther King,” said Ed Robinson, who an organizer for the event.

This was the 17th year for the march.  Before stopping at the performing arts center marchers kneeled to pray on top of the MLK Bridge.
